Change groups

We believe creating change in your life is easiest when you have some support. Creating your own small Change Project Group is one way you can achieve this. Outlined below are some simple guidelines about how you can set up your own group.

CHANGE PROJECT GROUP GUIDELINES

FIND YOUR GROUP MEMBERS

Ask a few friends or colleagues and find out if anyone is interested in setting up an informal group designed to support you in the process of personal change.

GROUP SIZE

Ideally groups are best if kept small – we recommend between two and eight people.

AGREE TO YOUR MEETING TIMES

Once you have your group members organised, work out the times that you'll meet. Meetings should be scheduled either weekly or fortnightly at a time that suits everyone and run for a minimum of one hour.

WHERE TO MEET

Where you meet is entirely up to you – a cafe is a good option as long as you can hear each other easily. Otherwise meet in a member's home or if you're in different locations, set up a Skype meeting online. We recommend you aim to meet for a minimum of three months.

REGISTER YOUR GROUP

Get in touch with us and register your group.

DETAILS WE'LL ASK FOR

  • first names of your group members
  • your location
  • your agreed meeting times
  • how long you anticipate running your group

WHAT NEXT?

Once your group is registered, we'll send you a copy of The Change Project Toolkit. There is no charge for this but we do invite you to consider making a donation to Headspace – a fabulous Australian based organisation offering mental health support to young people.

ABOUT THE CHANGE PROJECT TOOLKIT

The Change Project Toolkit outlines everything you need to help make your group a success and to help you create positive change in your life. It doesn't prescribe what that change should be – you get to choose your own goals and action steps. It's a framework to help you succeed and to get you over some of the bumpy bits you might experience along the way.
